Kenzie May Tapia - Kenzie trained at Carol Lloyd’s School of Dance from 1986-2001. She started teaching at Carol Lloyd’s in 1999. While she was teaching at Carol’s she was on the University of South Alabama dance team. At a show in the Beau Rivage in 2002 Kenzie was asked to tap on stage with the late Gregory Hines. She went on to teach at Kimberleigh’s School of Dance, at which time she choreographed for Fairhope Highschool’s drill team. Kenzie went to college at the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied dance education. When she came back from college she auditioned for and became a member of Alabama Contemporary Dance, which was a touring and performing modern dance company. She has taught dance to kids at the YMCA, Strickland youth center’s GROWTH program, and the Boys and Girls club. She was also asked to choreograph for the University of South Alabama theater department. Kenzie was the assistant director of Ashley’s Angels for two years. She then became the director of Dixie’s Dance Studio for two years. In summer of 2006 she was the guest artist at a summer dance workshop in Vermont, where she taught hip-hop and praise dance. Early summer 2007 Kenzie attended the NDEO (National Dance Educators Organization) conference where she was able to take class from some of the “greats” in the industry such as Frankie Manning and Bill Evans. In January of 2008 Kenzie opened Grace Dance Center. She currently has a ladies dance ministry at Life Church. Kenzie is also a member of NDEO (National Dance Education Organization). Kenzie is also a certified Module One Acrobatics Arts and Hoops Theory Aerial Arts teacher. Recently, Mrs. Kenzie won a Grind Award for ten plus years as a small business owner.
